$90 Million and Over 2 Years Later – The Ritz-Carlton, South Beach is Finally Open

Located in the Art Deco Historic District on the intersection of Collins Avenue and Lincoln Road, no part of the iconic hotel was left untouched. 

“Today, The Ritz-Carlton, South Beach – a treasure in the brand’s portfolio and in Miami – returns better than ever with a distinctive design transformation that melds modern touches with the building’s beloved Art Deco design,” said Sase Gjorsovski, General Manager of the resort. 

After careful consideration of Miami’s rich culture, award-winning interior architect Cristian Rubio breathed new life into the 376 guestrooms and suites. Through exquisitely designed furnishings and custom millwork, a distinctive and vibrant ambiance was created for guests. 

 “A relatively new city, Miami’s unique culture has been translated into the hotel with both depth of design and whimsical details that allow guests a feeling of being in the city without having to leave their rooms,” said Cristian Rubio.

Renovations at The Ritz-Carlton, South Beach include the all-new ‘20s and ‘30s-inspired Lapidus Bar offering vintage cocktails and live music and the oceanfront DiLido Beach Club serving Greek, French, and Spanish cuisine. There was also a refresh to The Ritz-Carlton Spa, and updates to their 10,000-square-foot ballroom, along with an additional 11 separate meeting and event spaces. 

The most exciting part of the facelift is the new hotel restaurant, Fuego y Mar, a Latin American and Caribbean culinary experience that is sure to tantalize even the most discerning palates. French-born Executive Chef Anthony LePape was previously with the hotel before the remodel at the former Bistro One LR. He rejoins at the helm of the new main restaurant, along with 30% of the former staff that the hotel had to lay off in 2017 due to Hurricane Irma. 

With all the changes brought by the floor-to-ceiling remodel of the property, the new lobby pays homage to the original design. Infused with modern touches to bring The Ritz-Carlton, South Beach into 2020, the nostalgia of the vibrant hotel we loved is still there.
