The Return of John Galliano

Pending the rumored changes to institutions like Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, fashion critics and enthusiasts alike are witnessing the fight for the exclusivity of the fashion industry. Maison Margiela Artisanal 2015 couture spring collection was a return to that old-fashioned invite-only experience. It was also the stage for John Galliano’s triumphant return to the runway.
There were only three photographers in the photography pit, including one in-house photographer. Paparazzi was not allowed inside to document celeb sightings such as Kate Moss and designers including, Lanvin’s Alber Elbaz, Manolo Blahnik and Rifat Ozbek to name a few.

The show is being praised as the perfect marriage between Galliano’s signature aesthetic and Maison Margiela.

From the the ornate use of tulle dramatically draped on the models who glided down the runway to their crystal-kissed lips that paired seamlessly with their drag-queen inspired makeup, the show was the perfect fashion fantasy.

Margiela emailed show notes immediately following the show. While there is some debate as to his reasoning for sending out his notes instead of the tradional behind the scenes interview, the general concensus is that the designer wanted to convey a clear explanation of his creative process. His sentiments illustrated a story of discovery and renewal.

“Approaching tailoring, techniques, craftsmanship like a new explorer, or painter. One who sees beauty in things that are often taken for granted, giving everything a newly enriched life.”

MIA-and-Kenzo-collaborate-008

MIA’s videos never disappoint. There is always a level of creativity that often merits watching the video more than once. MIA’S latest video (Y.A.L.A) is the ideal coalescence of all things cool. Always true to MIA form, the artist does the perfect job of killing you kindly with style without being a slave to fashion. Kenzo provides their signature eye for MIA’s garments and the brand’s signature video aesthetic of rapid imagery and vibrant colors are prominently displayed throughout the video.  The video debuted on i-D’s site today. The magazine’s YouTube page described the video as a:

“Rainbow rave explosions with glow-in-the-dark Matangi goddess Maya. Let’s dance unto infinity with Y.A.L.A… You Always Live Again!”

We must agree that we love the description and the video.

THE KNOT MEN NEED TO KNOW

Featured

Style for men is often a complicated affair. The opportunity to distinguish oneself- is an unfortunate rarity in men’s fashion. In the drab sea of pin stripes and muted colors, Embellishment is often regarded as a feminine feature. “Fun” in men’s style and the ability to make personal statements in menswear is so rare that WE- as men- must seize upon creative opportunities for self expression.

Dapper men everywhere have recently rediscovered a long established but rarely used staple in mens style; The Eldredge Knot. This rare style of tying ones tie manages to make a masculine but noticeable statement. Men are once again accentuating their wardrobes, by adding this staple to their arsenals of accoutrements. The Eldredge Knot is an emerging trend that most men are reserving for spectacular and special occasions like weddings. We, however think that this knot can and should be used to shut it down at a wider variety of engagements. We’ve posted a detailed how-to- for men (courtesy of http://www.mynicetie.com, a company that enables you to purchase killer ties while making a charitable difference ) that want to distinguish themselves with a unique look that destroys the competition.

Noteworthy Show Mara Hoffman

Culture, Editorial, Fashion, Featured

In the hustle and bustle of the Mercedes-Benz Swim Week craze, there are few shows that are worth the long lines, disorganized guest lists and stifling heat. Mara Hoffman is one of the featured designers who delivers a high-energy, deliciously chic show every time. Hoffman’s fans who lined up outside of the Raleigh were not disappointed this year. Psychedelic classic pieces sashayed down the runway and played perfectly off the ornate  L-Atititude accessories that completed the signature Mara Hoffman aesthetic. Classic label essentials converged on the runway at the Hoffman swim show with shoes provided by Michael Antonio, nails by LVX, make-up by Lori Taylor for Smashbox and hair by Nick Irwin for Catwalk by Tigi. The stylist for the evening was Richard Ruiz and we must say we approved of the wonderfully bohemian chic look that was presented.

Check out the pictures from the show.

Look of the day: Rihanna

Culture, Editorial, Fashion, News

We are all about being effortlessly chic. When Rihanna stepped out in London, the inner fashion fiend in us did our ritual happy dance as it pertains to the singer’s style. This look is the epitome of what we like to see Worthy ladies in. Her black and white Tom Ford boots are simply magical. Her simple white dress paired with sparkling Chanel cuffs were just the perfect touch. What are your thoughts?

Worthy Scene- 2nd Annual Dress To Impress For LLS Fashion Show At Solita Italian Restaurant In Delray

Culture, Editorial, Fashion, Featured

There is just something about a good cause and great style meeting a chic, long black runway that captivates our attention and makes our hearts smile. This past Thursday was one of those magical nights filled with amazing people, tantalizing South Florida style and delicious cuisine. SoLita Italian restaurant in Delray facilitated the festivities. We had the opportunity to dine and pine for the tropical creations that sashayed down the runway. The Event sponsors included Chic Devotion, Zamora Swimwear, Edmund James Salon, Guy La Ferrera, Live In, and Roxy LuLu. The vendors for the evening showcased their summer collections while ESPN Radio’s own Josh Cohen and DJ Adam Lipson kept the crowd momentum high.

VIP Seating, which included a fabulous swag bag helped Victor Concepcion, LLS Man of the Year Candidate, raise funds for Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of South Florida.

The recently added Velvet Room cultivated the ideal elements of comfort and style with its plush seats, ornate wall fixtures and sleek bar. Everything about the night and the venue can be described as “WORTHY APPROVED.”
