When Arsenio Hall was blessed with victory on the celebrity apprentice, Worthy Magazine was one of the first publications to ask if that win, would secure a new late night talk show for the legend of urban talk. Apparently, network execs agreed with Worthy and have given the go ahead for a new ARSENIO HALL SHOW! The new show will be produced by CBS and will air between 10pm and 11pm at night. Hall has a steep hill to climb. This time slot places him in direct competition with the Daily Show, Jay Leno and in some markets, David Letterman who is also on the CBS Network. It’s not clear how Letterman feels about his own network engineering the competition but Hall is enthused. He argues that there is a space for his show and brand of comedy.
We send out Worthy Well Wishes to Arsenio. As one of the funniest men in comedy, this is a well deserved and long awaited return to prime time.
Yesterday, Microsoft unveiled it’s new line of Windows 8 Tablets. The reaction thus far, has been nothing short of ecstatic. The tech community was thoroughly impressed by Microsoft’s creation in part because previous tablets have been such a tremendous let down. Microsoft began the unveiling in an uncharacteristically stylish way. The influence of Apple’s Steve Jobs and his style of presenting was all over the event. But Microsoft hasn’t just taken tips on presentation from Apple, they have also clearly learned a great deal about Product design from the industry leader. The Microsoft Surface is a sleek, reworking of the entire tablet concept. In some ways it accepts the traditional patterns of tablet design and in other ways, its entirely revolutionary.
The Microsoft Surface is encased in a magnesium frame; the first tablet to be shelled in such a material. This makes the design rigid, sturdy and polished. Embedded in the actual frame is a royal kickstand that protrudes from the device, instantly making it a transformer of sorts. All reports indicate that its going to take a small hurricane to bole over the Microsoft tablet. Ofcourse, this is hyperboly, but it highlights the way in which Microsoft has addressed a standard problem with Apple’s tablet. Stability has been an issue. Even with Apple’s elegant case, one is constantly aware of, if not in fear of, the threat of tipping over the device. This problem is solved by Microsoft’s Magneseum case and its built in stand. Adding to the innovation is a case or cover that actually serves a purpose. In the past, Apple’s cover has been derided as little more than an aesthetic add on. It served no real purpose. It could double as a stand, but beyond that it was entirely vestigial. Microsoft’s case, on the other hand is no thicker than Apple’s and yet it is also the device’s keyboard. Embedded in the paper thin case is a QWERTY keyboard with an accelerometer that senses the fingers motions. It is rumored to facilitate faster typing then any comparable keyboard. This solves the annoyance some users feel when asked to type on tablets. Some users simply hate Apple’s disdain for physical keyboards.
And there we have it. All of the buzz surrounds this tiny innovation of a colorful, paper thin, smart-keyboard.
The Windows 8 operating system took a backseat to the keyboard but it is also among the bonus features of a windows tablet. Business users have always lamented the IPAD’s lack of functionality. They have derided the tablet as a toy that cannot meet their daily business demands. Real business people, need Flash. They need documents that cross platforms. They need files and attachments. In short, they need a tablet thoroughly integrated in the Windows ecosystem, which dominates the business landscape. Microsoft, with its dual camera tablet, solves many of these issues.
If it sounds like the world is making too much of a silly keyboard and yet another tablet, don’t be fooled. Microsoft has just officially changed the tablet game. For the first time since the XBOX, Microsoft is manufacturing it’s own hardware, which suggests that they didn’t trust the partners that license their software to make this tablet. The failure of all other previous tablets, clearly taught Microsoft that the tech community needed to see how a tablet should be designed.
The Microsoft Surface comes in two versions. There is the Microsoft RT-which will boast the new Metro inspired tiles of the new Windows 8 revision. It’s thinner then an IPAD and its 10.6 inch screen is longer which makes it even more ideal for watching movies. There is also Windows 8 Pro which is a heftier, machine with pen and writing compatibility. It will allow users to use the Metro Tiles or the traditional Windows set up. For those that are still unconvinced of the formidability of this device, we have attached Microsofts, stylish new commercial.
The Basketball Wives franchise has handed out a few pink-slips. So Who Won’t be returning for next season? Jennifer Williams is out. Royce Reed and Kesha Nichols are also gone! Effectively, Basketball Wives Cut every person on the show that refused to engage in the foolishness of last season. Despite Shaunie Oneal’s recent claims that she wants to promote a more positive image, it appears that if you refused to drop a flying elbow off of a table, or if you refused to smack someone in the face, then you were cut from the show. Unfortunately, this maintains the show’s pattern of cutting positive role models from the show. While most, immediately seek to blame the women on the show, decisions such as these make it clear that the violent displays and negativity of the show are management orchestrated and based on decisions made in production. The Producers behind Basketball Wives and Shaunie O’neal- have continuously sent a single concrete message to all of it’s would-be cast members. If you fight, then you can stay. If you wish to conduct yourself with a modicum of dignity like Royce, Jennifer (at least in this season), or Kesha, then you will find yourself CUT from the team.
The details are sketchy but Chris Brown and Drake reportedly fought in a New York nightclub, over Rhianna. The fight began, reportedly when Chris Brown sent a bottle of Champagne over to Drake’s table, as a peace offering. Drake is reportedly dating Rhianna and Chris was reportedly upset over the new relationship. Chris’s peace offering, is rumored to have been responded to with a brief note that read “I’m Fucking The Love of Your Life. Get Over It”. Shortly thereafter bottles of champagne were flying across the nightclub, like a scene out of Mobwives. While we have no first hand accounts of Drake and Chris locked in battle, Drake reportedly punched Chris and hit him with a bottle, before Chris could respond. Brown tweeted a picture of his chin, which had a deep gash. Brown’s body guard was also injured and photographed on a stretcher with a bloody head. Drake is denying responsibility for it. And a young lady, is claiming to have been badly beaten in the malay. TMZ is posting pictures of Hollie C, a 24 year old tourist, who claims that she had a bottle thrown at her head. She was bleeding profusely and disfigured, when she made her way to the hospital, where she received 16 stitches and a tetanus shot.
NeNe Leakes has some new clothes but their not Gucci. She is starting a signature line of affordable clothes, designed to deliver her refined tastes for an affordable price. A Global Licensing Firm, Beanstalk will reportedly help Leakes with this new venture. If NeNe’s personal style is any indication, we can expect, colorful body hugging-wear. We currently have no dates on availability.
The Southern Baptists Convention is poised to elect it’s first black President. The SBC is historically dominated by it’s white membership. The branch developed when southern baptists split with their northern counterparts, over the issue of slavery. Those roots have shaped the organization but the SBC is poised to make a shift. As demographics shift many historically homogenous organizations are finding it necessary to diversify. Diversifying means reaching out to populations that were once ostracized or neglected. The almost certain election of Reverend Fred Luter Jr, will be a part of that outreach program. Luter is the Pastor of the Franklin Avenue Baptist Church. He leads a congregation of over 5,000. He lead the church through the destruction of Katrina. Now after helping his flock rebuild their lives, he will try to rebuild the Southern Baptists Convention.
It is beginning to look like we may be seeing a Renaissance in Black Americans on Television. Cedric The Entertainer and Neicy Nash are now joining that Renaissance, with a new television series on the TV Land Network. “Soul Man” is centered around Cedric, who plays a former R&B Star, and new Preacher. He leaves the high life on the Las Vegas strip to lead a small congregation in St. Louis. The comedic fodder for the show is supplied by the difficulty his family faces in adjusting to a more humble lifestyle. The show debuts on June 20. With relatively few established shows with large african american casts, and hollywood’s recent willingness to give them a try-it’s important to support new shows (especially efforts that present positive presentations).
Miley Cyrus is officially engaged. The pop star has been in a long relationship with actor, Liam Hemsworth, of Hunger Games. The couple formalized their long courtship on May 31 but refused to confirm the engagement until today. Cyrus has had a controversial few years. Rumors of drug use and a rough transition into adulthood have swirled around the former Disney star. The engagement to Liam Hemsworth may seem shocking and questionable, considering that Cyrus is only 19 and Hemsworth is only slightly older, at 22. Marriage is always a trial but marriage in Hollywood becomes a battle.
We wonder if two artists, in such formative years of life are in error to commit themselves to one another, when they are both obviously still in the growth phase of life. Despite our concerns, the Cyrus family is apparently ecstatic and very supportive of the union.
We send Miley and her new hubby, WORTHY WELL WISHES, in their marriage.

The President’s critics are fond of calling him a Marxist and Socialist. They claim that he is hostile to business and hostile to the private sector and yet, for a man with communist tendencies, President Obama seems to be racking up significant Private Sector victories. The stock market has broken several records and many companies are seeing record profits. His latest Private Sector Trophy is the success of SPACE-X, a privately held, American Space Company. Today, Space X became the first private company in history to successfully launch a rocket into orbit and follow that monumental achievement with the successful docking of a cargo vessel with the International Space Station. To Date, only a handful of nations have achieved what this private firm has accomplished.
Much like Healthcare reform, or Cap and Trade, a private space industry was once the vision of Republicans. But once President Obama signed onto their idea, the Republicans seem to have abandoned their old position. They have lambasted the President for allowing the Shuttle to retire, forgetting their own years of hostility toward the program.
Today, marks an incredible achievement. The future of American Space Flight will be in Private Sector companies that provide consumers and the government with shuttle flights, to and from orbit. Space Tourism is an obvious, next step for other companies. Space X however, endeavors to be a cargo company. They have already inked contracts with NASA, to ferry supplies to the Space Station. The Capsule of the DRAGON ROCKET, docked with the Space Station, this morning, somewhere above New Zealand. When Nasa astronaught, Donald Pettit, opened the Dragon Capsule he noted that “The small inside smells like a brand new car”. The brilliantly white capsule was immaculate, he noted. The California based company and it’s Dragon Rockets are now our rental car into space. And it would have been impossible without significant government support. President Obama has caught significant flack for his “Investments” in America’s future. Republicans have been quick to point out the failures. This however, is a success of epic proportions. It remains to be seen, if they will give him any credit.
