In an odd segment of HARDBALL, MSNBC’s Chris Matthews asked “Who wants to watch a debate with the two cubans (Cruz and Rubio)” when responding to news that Donald Trump was threatening to pull out of the next Fox News Debate, scheduled for Thursday 1/28/16. The segment was noticeable as Mathews, who has been accused of disrespecting prominent women in the past, also seemed to bull-doze a female colleague reporting live from a Donald Trump Rally. The host repeatedly spoke over the reporter, cutting her off at various points. Mathews went on to use what could be deemed an offensive term when referring to Presidential Contender Ted Cruz and his closest senatorial colleague, Mike Lee. Matthews referred to Lee as Ted Cruz’s Sancho Panza (the name of the squire and help meet in Don Quixote). The hosts interviewee retorted to Mathews “those are your words, not mine”. Why, Mathews chose to use repeatedly ethnic references when speaking of Cruz is up to individual interpretation.

Olive + Piper Noteworthy Style
Editor's Journal, Fashion, FeaturedOlive + Piper, a fun and playful online jewelry boutique and collection, started from a dream and a few risky decisions. Founder Tania Yan grew up as a quiet and artistic young child, immersing herself in her studies, ballet, singing and piano. Like most young girls, Tania made her own beaded accessories, including jewelry and headbands, to express her own individual style. Taking a detour in college, Tania found herself studying cell biology and genetics, and it wasn’t until after graduation where she worked at a large ecommerce company that Tania was inspired to work with fashion jewelry. With a desire to start her own business, a personal fashion blog and a passion for designing, Olive + Piper was born.
Olive + Piper officially launched in October 2012, selling curated pieces made ethically in China. But Tania soon developed a bigger dream, a dream to design her own pieces. She began creating inspiration boards, sketching her designs and envisioning what they would look like. In the past year, Olive + Piper launched three new collections, all designed in-house, with more than 30 styles in multiple color variations. All pieces are inspired by Tania’s every day life, including color schemes or patterns she is exposed to.
Olive + Piper aspires to help ambitious girls feel edgy and daring all while staying true to oneself. Tania thrives on the idea of individuality and boldness, two elements seen in each piece. Olive + Piper’s mission is to CREATE a guilty pleasure fashion lovers fall in love with, to SHARE its love and passion for the “sparklier things in life,” and to INSPIRE the world to explore and celebrate individual style. Channel Your Inner ‘Mad Men’ Character with the Vivienne Pash Collection
Fashion, Featured
It’s time to bring back the 60’s; fashion that is. We’re talking knee length dresses, skirts and shorts, midi belts and big collars. Vivienne Pash brings these styles back to women, leaving all that other 60’s “men are in charge” nonsense behind. Women are bigger, better and bolder today – just like her SS 16 collection.
As a Jamaican native, Pash grew up surrounded by delicate materials, draping everyone in their own way. Inspired by the different elements that come together to make a garment, Vivienne began sewing pieces for her life-sized doll. Taking motivation from this, she decided to begin creating her own personalized collection. After fashion school, New York became home for the creation of her line. “I brought my designs to life because they deserved to be seen,” Pash explained.
Right she was; her line has become a conversation starter. What sets Vivienne Pash apart from other designers is that she does not follow any trends and creates her own classic sets of garments for today’s fashion. Inspired by style icons like Twiggy and Tilda Swinton, the feel she exerts from her clothing is of a fashion risk-taker. Her designs are bold, simple and dynamic.
Meant to stand-out, the first official collection launched is heavy on black and white with some coral, grey and nude accents sprinkled around each corner. The dresses, skirts, tops and pantsuits are classy punk with a full-on retro vibe. Classic-cool, Breakfast at Tiffany’s anyone? Stepping out in the fan-favorite being the polka dot pantsuit with a midi tie belt would sure make a mother proud.
Cropped tops are seen everywhere, but not like this. Made with bold fabrics, each are simple and outlined perfectly along the shoulders and collar. The statement pieces will be sure to catch an eye along the way to work, lunch or a night out on the town. Major street style. With features on Vogue.com, we will be sure to see more of Vivienne Pash along the way.
The pieces can be worn individually or together, each making a statement on the sleek, classy, modern lady. Fitting each woman comfortably throughout her day, the clothing is made with cotton, silk, scuba, chiffon and jersey knit materials.
Pash inspires us to channel our inner ‘Mad Men’ self to take the more refined style of the 60’s American upper-class to our day-to-day wear. She also reminds us how much fun fashion can be. The prices for her collection range from $59.00-$800.00, it is available at ViviennePash.com.
Trustworthy: Jorg Gray
Editor's Journal, Editorial, Fashion, Featured, LifestyleJorg Gray is a watchmaker that has garnered recent attention for its Presidential Collection of watches which have become popular as the preferred timepiece of President Obama and his Secret Service detail. Upon receiving the JG650083, the President’s reason for choosing this watch were apparent. The JG6500 is a simply gorgeous work of art with Japanese Chronograph movements, aviator styled embellishments, a sapphire crystal lens, stainless steel casing and an Italian crocodile leather strap. The Jorg Gray 6500 commands a stately presence while offering silent reassurance of it’s durability. The Rose Gold variant of the watch would make an excellent compliment to any suit at a state affair and stand firm under rugged conditions. As a reviewer, there is an obvious elephant in the room whenever a traditional watch is discussed. The Jorg Gray is obviously a luxury watch but some believe that we live in the era of the smartwatch. Consumers would not be faulted for comparing any watch to their favorite smartwatch brand. Smartwatches offer alerts and notifications. You can take calls, start cars, open hotel room doors and summon uber on smartwatches so why should consumers want a watch that “Only” tells the time? Some watch makers have expressed fear and trepidation at the comparison between smartwatches and “real watches”. The Jorg Gray 6500 has convinced me that watchmakers like Jorg Gray have very little to worry about. From the moment I was presented with the Jorg Gray, I instantly remembered why there is no comparison between smartwatches and “Real Watches”. I recall fellow reviewers gushing over the plain white box their Apple Watches arrived in but when I received my BiFold case for the JG 6500, I remembered what truly elegant packaging was all about. The black case is accented with silver trim and it opens with a slight bit of resistance, communicating that it’s contents were meant to be guarded. Once opened, the case (it is inadequate to call it a box) reveals the watch in all of its glory. The watch is presented like a fine piece of jewelery and it immediately dawned on me that this watch was of an heirloom quality. The crocodile leather band is stunning and caught my eye immediately. When I held the watch for the first time, I was impressed by the perfectly balanced heft of the device. The watch face measures 41mm and it’s thickness is 13.6mm. The watch feels sturdy but not heavy. At first, the watch feels substantial but eventually it’s heft seems to evaporate. The device fades into the wrist becoming the unobtrusive presence that watches should be for serious consumers. The watch boasts many of the tricks demanded by modernity but it shines as an elegant, understated example of timeless craftsmanship. The Rose GoldJ650083 has a transparent undercarriage that offers its owner a peek into the watch’s internal engineering and the sight is admittedly glorious. In the two weeks I spent with the JG 650083, I have once again fallen in love with the beauty of a watch. A great watch does not draw attention to itself. It doesn’t buzz and vibrate with busy notifications or flash like a neon sign on the Las Vegas strip. In comparing smartwatches to this “real watch” it became apparent to me that all of those “features” in certain settings become gaudy, intrusive and inelegant. A “Real Watch’s” beauty is reserved for those that the wearer brings in closely. It is a finerdetail or a punctuation point for a wardrobe. It is versatile and equally appropriate for meetings or social gatherings. For those I allowed to see the watch, it provokes an audible “Wow” but for those I choose to keep at bay, it never begs for attention. The essence of luxury is choicea choice in where I can wear the device, a choice in how many outfits it can compliment and a choice in whom I allow into my personal space to enjoy it with me. The comparison between smartwatches and luxury watches is so inappropriate that it borders on the grotesque. The simple difference is in quality. It is in the way that one feels when this masculine, expertly crafted time piece serves as an accent that completes your presentation in personal and professional settings. Smartwatches have their place, in gyms and other functions but they cannot be compared to watches like the JG 6500, Presidential Timepiece. Why should consumers settle for smartwatches that appear reminiscent of “real watches” when they could simply obtain a “real watch”? I highly recommend the JG 650083 as a Worthy Purchase and at $895 it is an affordable luxury Worthy of the World’s Leader.

Five Financial New Years Resolutions
Editor's Journal, Editorial, FeaturedWith a new year comes a new opportunity to start fresh and begin 2016 on the right foot. Many people chose to make a new year’s resolution which may include eating healthy, losing weight, etc. But what about another habit that will benefit us all in the long run?: Planning for the financial future.
We sat down with Joe Eppy, Founder and President of The Eppy Group, a leading financial financial firm committed to protecting their clients and community and he shed light on some Financial New Years Resolutions we should all be adding to our list!
Set Measurable Goals. Set specific goals with measurable results. Instead of saying I want to save money or pay of debt, say I want to save $5000 this year or I want to pay off 80% of my debt.
Budget. To be able to better manage your finances you need to plan ahead. Don’t spend more than what you make and most importantly, remember to save. There are several apps that can help you stick within your monthly budget to keep your finances on track.
Review Your Credit. You get one free credit report per year and the best part is you don’t have to pull all three credit bureaus at the same time. Unless you are making a big purchase such as a home or car, you can spread it out throughout the year to monitor any changes.
Monthly self-evalutation. Sit down at the end of each month and go over bank / credit card statements. Look for areas of improvement, and also measure success on meeting goals.
Educate Yourself. Select and meet with a financial advisor you trust. Many people feel they don’t make enough to have a financial advisor, that is simply not true and the value they bring to the table will exponentially benefit your long term game plan. Googling and reading blogs just simply doesn’t cut it when you’re financial future is at stake.
There are a lot of things in life you can’t control. Luckily, your finances doesn’t need to be one of them. Set some goals, write them and make 2016 the best year yet!

Editor's Journal, FeaturedTrustworthy: Erimish Bracelet Bar
Editor's JournalWe love to spotlight designers and products that are all about being effortlessly beautiful and useful. So we are pretty excited to share our love for Erimish. Erimish Bracelet Bar launched earlier this year to provide women of all ages a unique and refreshing way of styling their jewelry. The affordable stackable bracelets are made to mix-and-match to create everything from Bohemian to sophisticated looks.
The concept behind the bracelet bar began in Erimish’s own boutique. The sisters wanted to give customers the opportunity to create their own stacks as a unique reflection of the person wearing them. With over 1000 different styles of bracelets, there are endless possibilities.
Each bracelet is inspired by everyday life, whether it be the clothing you wear or the places you traveled to this past summer, the people you’ve met or memories you’ve made.
“There’s no one set place that we go to for inspiration,” says co-founder Misha Wilson. “We could see a color combination, just walking down the street, and then get inspired to create a whole new collection,” sister Ericka Hamilton explains.
Materials are brought in from all over the world to create these beautiful one-of-a-kind bracelets. Both synthetic and natural stones are used to help create a clean and classic look with a bold and daring edge. Natural stones include Agate, Druzy, Amazonite, Pyrite and Moonstone, while the synthetic styles include a mix of Gold Vermeil pieces and Czech crystal. Although the stones come from all over, the bracelets themselves are made in India, China or the United States, depending on the materials being used.
The beauty of Erimish’s bracelets is that they are timeless and unique. No matter what age, all women will have the ability to mix-and-match their stacks to match their own personal style. Mom’s can choose a bracelet to represent each child; teenagers can get one for each friend; wear a different stack for every holiday; the possibilities are endless.

Erimish just recently launched their sixth and latest collection for the winter season, adding to the spring/summer, fall, resort, game-day and kids collections. Current pieces are available for purchase in select boutiques or their online store at http://www.erimish.com.
DANNY SAPANI TALKS ABOUT DIVERSITY
FeaturedBest known for his acclaimed role as the elusive, mysterious ‘Sambene’ in Showtime’s “Penny Dreadful,”
accomplished and versatile character actor DANNY SAPANI is a force to be reckoned with, playing diverse and powerful roles in notable projects such as “Misfits,” and “Doctor Who,” and can be seen next starring opposite Stephen Moyer, Lee Jones, and Katey Sagal as “Berber the Moor,” a pivotal character in FX’s answer to “Game of Thrones,” the highly anticipated medieval drama epic THE BASTARD EXECUTIONER airing Tuesday nights at 10pm ET/PT on FX. Created by Kurt Sutter (“Sons of Anarchy”/”The Shield”), “The Bastard Executioner,” is a blood-soaked, medieval epic set in northern Wales narrating the story of a 14th century warrior, Wilkin Brattle (Lee Jones), who sets aside his sword to forge a new life for himself as a wandering executioner amidst a sea of war, rebellion, and political upheaval. Sapani plays the role of “Berber the Moor”, an educated noble of Moroccan decent, who serves as Wilkin’s moral compass throughout the series. He is his steadfast comrade, though his forced conversion to Catholicism deeply conflicts with his devout Muslim beliefs and will lead to tension and conflict far more complex than any battle could.
Congratulations on the show with FX. Could you discuss your character a little more? What would you say you have in common with him? How would you say you are different from your character, Berber?
Thank you! Berber is a joy to play as are the times and world we are creating is to explore. He is a Muslim, and although I am not and don’t have any religious convictions, we do share some personality traits in that our values are quite similar. He is a man who stands up for what he believes in against the odds, in practicing Islam in a Catholic state. There is clearly much to be revealed about his past and the character.
Could you finish the statement? “I am worthy because
Everyone is. Life is a game of chance. I am grateful for the opportunity to share; love, make a positive contribution, love, give thanks and some more love.
Diversity was the hot topic for this year when it came to television. What are your thoughts about diversity in television and film? Do you think there was a lack of diversity in the past why or why not? What are your thoughts about the future of diversity in television in film and television?
It’s very much a hot topic – I feel we are at crisis point in fact. For too long have the contributions of black people and other minorities (even women) being slighted on our screens, in history and across our popular culture. Without these representations accurately portrayed, we lose a vital part of the jigsaw in deciphering our past and inspiring our children’s future. A collective effort is needed to address this to stop what we now view as important representation being weird or obsolete in the future. To make a costume drama, whether set in the 1700s or the ’70s and to not have a single person of colour on set is preposterous yet is happening all too frequently. The issue is simply that those in power want to tell their own stories, and see their own faces, at the exclusion of others. It’s vital that a shift in diverse representation at the top level happens so we get to tell our own stories and create a realistic legacy for the future.
Everyone at the magazine and in my family loves Penny Dreadful. We are huge fans of your character ‘Sembene’ How was it working on the show? What was your favorite part of working on the show? Can you tell us if there is any way that you are coming back?
Thank you again! Working with John Logan and the team was an amazing experience and I absolutely love the show myself. The entire team were a family and the standards that everyone worked to at very level were top notch. Filming in Dublin was also wonderful as I fell in love with the city, the Irish people and the craic! I am sure I was the envy of most women on the planet being eaten by Josh Hartnett! Will I be coming back? Who knows. The great thing about Penny Dreadful is being dead doesn’t mean the end!
