And The Best iWatch Concept Is……

News

trans iwatch

The iWatch is coming and it’s impending arrival has the internet buzzing with excitement. Graphic artists and animation enthusiasts have flooded the net with their own iWatch concepts. We are all excited about the iWatch. We have even written a piece about the incredible features we believe Apple will build into the device. Our ideas are very different from most of the Tech press but they are also based on our research of Apple Inc. It is likely that we won’t see the iWatch until September (and possibly as late as October). Until then we will have to titilate ourselves with the iWatch Mockups on the web. We’ve selected some of the very best and we will leave it up to you to decide which you like best.

Misty Copeland For Under Armour Is Beyond Inspirational

Culture, Editorial, News

As if you needed another reason as to why we are so geeked and honored to have Misty Copeland on the cover of our Talent Issue, her recent ad for Under Armour featuring her reading a rejection letter that she got at 13 years old stating that she was too old and too big to be a ballerina just brought it all home for us. Be inspired and make sure you check out the current issue of Worthy Magazine. This video demonstrates what this issue is all about. The talent is only the beginning you have to have the work ethic and will power to support it. We wouldn’t even know who Misty Copeland was if she didn’t have the work ethic that she had at the young age of 13.

One of my favorite quotes is “Creativity is the highest form of intelligence.” Needless to say my regard toward talent is similar to divine admiration. But life wields an unexpected and powerful twist to all things, and life’s unique command on talent dictates that talent is nothing without a solid work ethic. Some of the most successful people I know in their respective fields will admit without hesitation that they may not have been the best in their field but they were willing to work the hardest despite being underestimated and counted out.

In this issue you will be reading about talented people who aren’t afraid to work hard. It is an honor to be able to interview them. I can honestly say that each interview inspired me and reassured me that I should keep pursuing my dreams.

I had an unexpected moment of joy when I realized that two of my feature interviews I discovered in my favorite magazine of all time, Suede Magazine. I remember being in shock when I saw a ballerina who looked like me. I remember thinking it was so cool to read about successful talented people like Marcus Samuelsson who was being profiled in that issue as well. I found myself speechless when I realized how beautifully congruent life can be.

The overall lesson I walked away with is that nothing can confine your ability to succeed except your choices. Our featured interview with Misty Copeland illustrates that perfectly. The ballerina was well past the traditional age to start ballet. However, after one advance class she was willing to work just as hard as anyone else. So hopefully this issue will show you that the most crucial key to success is a sound work ethic. And once you accept that anything is possible. Be inspired.

VIRTUAL REALITY JUST GOT REAL

News
Oculus Rift Virtual Reality Headset

Oculus Rift Virtual Reality Headset

FACEBOOK, The Social Media Megalith has purchased Oculus Rift-a relatively unknown Virtual Reality firm for 2 billion dollars. Who is Oculus Rift and Why would Facebook Pay 2 billion real dollars for a virtual reality company? Oculus started with a wave of internet support as a kickstarter proposal. The company promised it’s crowd-sourced financiers that it could fulfill their childhood fantasies and create the world’s first consumer grade Virtual Reality headset. In order to do this the company would have to climb a mountain of technical and economic challenges. In order for consumers to embrace VR-the headset would have to be light, small, durable and affordable. With the release of version 2 of the Oculus headset those goals are in sight. The incredible accomplishment of the little firm has proven the viability of Virtual Reality which was regarded as little-more than a 90’s based gimmick. There were few game developers interested in VR but the hard-won success of Oculus has inspired a shift in attitudes.

Project Morpheus, Virtual Reality for The Playstation 4

Project Morpheus, Virtual Reality for Playstation 4

The potential of Oculus seems to have provoked larger firms like Sony to see a future in VR. Sony has announced it’s own Project Morpheus, a VR accessory for it’s Playstation 4 and Microsoft has announced it’s effort to develop a similar device for it’s XBOX! The matchup between Oculus and these larger properties seemed destined for the demise of Oculus. In the gaming industry, distribution is everything and content is king. Game developers want the titles they create to be available for the most popular game systems. While everyone seemed to respect the moxy of this upstart tech company and it’s brash young founders, the entrance of the “big guys” meant that Oculus had a truly difficult path forward. The purchase by FACEBOOK completely alters the industrial equations. FACEBOOK’s name alone-in addition to it’s seemingly inexhaustible resources signals the potential of Oculus to grow into a viable platform for game developers.

Facebook’s vision for Virtual Reality goes far beyond video games. Mark Zuckerberg imagines the technology to be firmly within Facebook’s social media wheelhouse. Zuckerberg imagines virtual hangouts with your “friends”. Tomorrow’s Facebook friends won’t just be clickable icons and lengthy profiles. They will be interactive avatars, sitting on the couch next to you.  He imagines virtual shopping centers that enhance the shopping experience. And in sports he imagines courtside seats and sideline vantage points that make the best seats in the stadium available to any consumer. Virtual Reality has a very real future and thanks to Facebook, so does Oculus Rift.

Another editorial favorite is FX’s American Horror Story. There is debate among the team as to which season was the best but what we can agree on is that it is between the second season and the third season. So imagine our excitement when the theme of the new season was revealed via Twitter and then imagine the extreme level of euphoria we experienced when the possibility that the new season might be coming to Florida.

For the readers who might be new to the magazine, or just not familiar, the magazine is based in South Florida.

According to EW, season four will be set in 1950s Jupiter with plenty of returning familiar faces. Jessica Lange will reprise her utterly-fabulous role as star, this time portraying a “German ex-pat who is managing one of the last freak shows in the U.S.” At her side, a trusty gang signaling the continuation of Kathy Bates, Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Angela Bassett, and Frances Conroy. Fan favorites Emma Roberts and Denis O’Hare are also in talks to return.  Words can not express how reeked we are about Kathy Bates and Angela Bassett returning.
